This is a 4 page speaking based lesson, with one page of homework, and teacher’s instructions.
The target language is movie vocabulary consisting of about 30 words.
It is a speaking based lesson plan.
It focuses on:
- Describing a movie genre with accurate movie vocabulary.
(with a single noun – comedy) OR (combination adjective and noun – romantic comedy) - Using both positive and negative adjectives to describe each genre in particular.
(Action Movies – Action packed / Slow paced) - Common phrases to describe a movie’s genre, cast, setting, plot, and make a recommendation. (Help to model a 5 sentence description of a movie)
- Free discussion focused broadly on movies (15 questions).
It includes:
- One page movie vocabulary breakdown (Presentation).
- One Activity to practice speaking the target language (Semi-restricted speaking practice).
- Two Activities to produce the target language (Freer speaking practice).
- One page to be assigned for homework (Vocabulary Fill-ins & Writing Assignment).
- One page of teacher’s instructions on how to execute the lesson in class.
Tips for teaching it:
- The day before have students make a list of their 10 favorite movies and 5 movies they hated. Everyone will be better prepared to discuss and use target movie vocabulary.
- Encourage students to talk about both movies they like and dislike. Then they can use all the positive and negative adjectives from the target movie vocabulary.
- Collect some pictures of movies posters from online. Print them or load them on an iPad to use as additional examples for students to describe with target movie vocabulary.

Hello guys,
First of all, thanks for publishing so interesting material PDF, for the sake of our esl students, we always are looking interesting ways of calling their attention, and I could find this material really interesting. I’ve just downloaded two PDFs, the one that I like most is about movies, since I don’t have much culture about films because I don’t go to the cinema so often. Consequently, I really need to put updated with the characters of these movies. Thanks a lot, again!
Sincerely,
Ruth Morales Cahuas (user of Facebook)
